*Every year, summer in Carinthia shows itself from its most beautiful side. For hot summer days we have collected day trip tips that work even at over 30 degrees. From countless things to experience to glorious sunshine, a holiday on the Faaker See leaves nothing to be desired. So it can quite often happen that the thermometer climbs past the 30-degree mark. But where can you cool off, and which places are worth visiting in high summer? We have put together the best day trip options for you:*

## Cooling off in the Faaker See

What is more refreshing than a dip in the turquoise-blue Faaker See? Our apartments have their own bathing beach with a jetty as well as sun loungers and parasols, which our guests can use free of charge. If you prefer more action, you can paddle through the reed belt by canoe or SUP.

## A trip to the Tscheppaschlucht

“Die Tscheppaschlucht die is a Wucht” – the Tscheppaschlucht is a real knockout, as the local saying goes. Starting from the visitor centre in Ferlach, you experience the spectacular primal force of water, framed by particularly beautiful scenery. On the hiking trail through the gorge you can marvel at deep, steep rock faces and a unique natural landscape.

## Up into the mountains

If it is too hot in the valley, often the only thing that helps is to escape to airy heights.  Around the Faaker See there are numerous mountains, such as the Gerlitzen Alpe, the Nassfeld or the Mittagskogel, where you will find hiking trails and via ferratas for every age group and every level of difficulty.

## Experience the Terra Mystica show mines

Here, two show mines are connected at one site. The journey begins with the 68 m long miners’ slide straight into the interior of the mountain, to the station there that the two show mines share. On foot you pass through seven mystical pits and past a mine railway, or you ride the 2 km long mine railway to the Terra Montana.

## Day trip to the Obir stalactite caves

Carinthia is also home to the well-known Obir stalactite caves. They are a breathtaking natural spectacle, because over many thousands of years seeping surface water has formed impressive dripstone formations.

## Großglockner Hochalpenstraße

The 48 km long Hochalpenstraße has 36 hairpin bends and gradients of up to 12%, which makes it Europe’s best-known panoramic road. It leads through one of the most impressive natural landscapes of all, right up to Austria’s highest mountain, the Großglockner.
