Summer in Carinthia presents itself from its most beautiful side every year. From numerous adventure opportunities to imperial weather, the holiday at Lake Faak leaves nothing to be desired. It can often happen that the thermometer exceeds 30 degrees. But where can you cool off and what are the best adventure destinations in high summer? We have summarised the best excursion options for you:
Cooling off in Lake Faak
What is more refreshing than a dive into the turquoise blue Faaker See? Our flats have their own bathing beach with a jetty as well as sunbeds and parasols. Our guests can use this offer free of charge. Those who prefer action can paddle through the reed belt by canoe or SUP.
Excursion to the Tscheppa Gorge
"The Tscheppaschlucht Gorge is a stunner". Starting from the visitor centre in Ferlach, you will experience spectacular elemental forces of water framed by particularly beautiful scenery. On the hiking trail through the gorge you can marvel at deep, steep cliffs and a unique geographical natural backdrop.
Off to the mountain
When it's too hot in the valley, the only option is often to escape to lofty heights. Around Lake Faak there are numerous mountains such as the Gerlitzen Alpe, the Nassfeld or the Mittagskogel where you can find hiking trails and via ferratas for every age group and every level of difficulty.
Terry Mystica Exhibition Mine Experience
Here, two show mines are connected at one location. The 68-metre-long miner's slide takes you directly into the interior of the mountain to the railway station there, and the two show mines are shared. You can walk through seven mystical mines as well as a mine train or take the 2km-long mine train to Terra Montana.
Obir Dripstone Caves excursion destination
Carinthia is also home to the famous Obir stalactite caves. They are a breathtaking natural spectacle, because impressive stalactite formations were formed over many thousands of years by seeping surface water.
Grossglockner High Alpine Road
The 48km long high alpine road has 36 hairpin bends and a gradient of up to 12%, making it Europe's most famous panoramic road. It leads through one of the most impressive natural landscapes of all, all the way to Austria's highest mountain, the Großglockner.
